Explore our dynamic framework of internationally verifiable learning credentials from Level 1 up to Level 6.
UKIQ uses a six-level review framework to indicate the expected complexity, depth of learning, practical application and professional responsibility associated with programmes submitted for accreditation or recognition.
These levels are used by UKIQ for programme review and classification purposes. They do not indicate the learner’s age and should not be interpreted as confirmation that a programme is a UK-regulated qualification or directly equivalent to a GCSE, A Level, diploma or university degree.
Designed for programmes that introduce basic knowledge, awareness and practical skills. Learners are generally expected to complete simple and routine activities with guidance or supervision.
Designed for programmes that develop working knowledge and practical competence. Learners are expected to complete routine tasks with a degree of independence and apply established procedures in familiar situations.
Designed for programmes requiring broader theoretical and practical understanding. Learners are expected to apply their knowledge independently, take responsibility for their work and manage moderately complex tasks.
Designed for programmes requiring specialist knowledge and advanced practical competence. Learners are expected to analyse information, address non-routine problems and manage their own professional or technical activities.
Designed for programmes requiring comprehensive specialist knowledge, professional judgement and managerial capability. Learners may be expected to evaluate different approaches and manage projects, people or resources.
Designed for programmes requiring advanced, critical and specialised understanding. Learners are expected to address complex professional problems, make informed strategic decisions and accept significant responsibility within their field.
UKIQ provides independent accreditation, recognition, quality review and certification services through approved partner institutions. UKIQ does not directly provide classroom training unless explicitly stated.
The level assigned to a programme represents UKIQ’s assessment of its complexity and learning expectations. It does not automatically provide equivalence to a qualification regulated by Ofqual or another government qualifications regulator.
